Samsung Washer UE Code: What It Means and How to Fix It

UE (also shown as Ub or UB on some models) is one of the most common codes on Samsung washers. It means the washer detected an unbalanced load during spin and could not correct it, so it slowed down or stopped.

Step 1: Redistribute the load

Open the washer, spread clothes evenly around the drum and restart the spin. A single heavy item such as a bath mat, comforter or pair of jeans balled up on one side is the most common trigger.

Step 2: Avoid tiny or single-item loads

Washing one heavy item alone makes balance difficult. Add a couple of towels to even it out.

Step 3: Check the washer is level

Rock the washer corner to corner. If it moves, adjust the feet until all four sit firmly on the floor. Garage slabs and older laundry floors are often uneven.

Step 4: Look for worn suspension

If UE appears with normal, well-mixed loads, the suspension is often worn. On Samsung top loaders, the four suspension rods wear and let the tub swing; on front loaders, the shock absorbers weaken. Signs include loud banging, the tub sitting low or off-center, or the washer walking across the floor.

Step 5: Consider a motor sensor problem

Less often, a faulty hall sensor or motor connection makes the control misread drum movement and show UE. This needs testing rather than guessing.

When to call

If UE keeps returning after you have redistributed the load and leveled the washer, the suspension or sensor likely needs attention.
